NSW: Survivor of Epping house massacre says thanks to supporters
SYDNEY, Aug 2 AAP - The sole survivor of a family brutally murdered in their northern
Sydney home has publicly thanked friends and others for their concern.
Brenda Lin, 15, was on a overseas school study trip on July 18 when her family were
found bludgeoned to death at their Epping home.
Among those killed were newsagent Min Lin, 45, his wife Yun Li Lin, 43, and the couple's
sons Henry, 12 and Terry, nine.
Ms Lin's 39-year-old sister Irene Yin was also found murdered in the house.
Brenda, a student at Cheltenham Girls High School, has remained in hiding since returning
to Australia, but through a statement issued through the Lin family lawyer, Daniel Sheen,
said she appreciated the support she had received from concerned friends and others.
"When I logged onto Facebook today, I found many of my friends had left me comments,
showing their support for me and my family, she said late on Saturday.
"It showed that so many people were concerned about me and I felt really thankful to
all those people."
The Epping newsagency owned by the Lin's has been closed since their bodies were found,
but is expected to open this week.
Ms Lin also acknowledged people who had left flowers outside the newsagency.
"I felt the same feeling of thanks when I saw so many flowers and gifts left outside
the newsagent and our home," she said.
"I was moved by the overwhelming amount of flowers, I would have never imagined there
to be so many."
