NSW: Police appeal for witnesses to savage bashing
SYDNEY, April 3 AAP - Police today appealed for help from anyone who may have witnessed the
savage bashing of a young man in Sydney's west on Thursday.
The 22-year-old man left a nightcub on High St, Penrith, just before midnight on Wednesday,
March 31 and walked to his home in King Street, a police spokesman said.
He arrived home about 12.30am on Thursday where his parents discovered he was suffering
massive head injuries, the spokesman said.
He was treated at Nepean Hospital and later transferred to Westmead Hospital, where he is
in a serious but stable condition.
Penrith Detective Senior Constable Stephen Dale said circumstances surrounding the assault
remained a mystery.
"The man's friend has told us that it was an incident-free night at the nightclub and their
group had not been involved in any disputes," Detective Dale said.
"We have searched from the club to the man's home but have been unable to determine where
the attack has taken place".
He asked anyone who witnessed the bashing or had any information to contact Penrith
detectives on 02 4721 9444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
