NSW: Shot fired at police in inner-western Sydney

SYDNEY, Dec 9 AAP - A handgun was fired at police in inner-western Sydney this morning.

A police spokesman said that shortly after 2am, the driver of a car produced a gun
and fired a shot when he was approached by police in Culdees Street, Burwood Heights.

No-one was injured.

The car, a Ford Laser, sped from the scene and a pursuit was called off when it crossed
to the wrong side of the road, the spokesman said.

Police said the car was located soon after in Hawthorn Parade, Haberfield.

Officers from the police dog unit and police airwing, Polair, were brought in and investigations
were continuing.
